Maxime Proud

Vice-President

Chinese language and culture have been a part of my life since I was fourteen years old. I chose to learn Mandarin Chinese in high school as my third foreign language. It connected me with a community and a culture that I deeply respect, but also grew to feel very familiar with.

My experience to date, my passion for what the YCPA does, and my eagerness to contribute and to support to its mission and its future board, are the reasons why I have chosen to be part of the 2023-2024 mandate.

I am polyglot of Armenian origin fluent in French, English and Mandarin Chinese amongst other languages. I am born and raised in Montreal.

I am a great example of how a person who is not of Chinese origin can learn Mandarin, and become a cultural liaison. I hope my own linguistic and cultural journey can be such an inspiration to others. I believe that given my background I could bridge the YCPA to greater connections.
